Blue & White Abstract Shell With Cross, Surreal Art by Joseph Westrupp

Blue & white abstract shell with cross, surreal geometric art deconstruction by Joseph Westrupp.

About the Art

The title of this picture is Antelucan White. It’s one of three variations, the others being Antelucan Red, which is red on a light blue background, and Antelucan Black, which is black and white.

The deconstructed shape is just one seashell that I chopped up and manipulated into the composition you see.

As prosaic as a broken old seashell might seem, when I found it sitting around the house I was thrilled. I instantly saw the potential in it, and I’d been having trouble finding material to photograph for my art.
