Blue Skull From Paris Catacombs

Blue skull with tentacle-like teeth against red background. Surreal art by Joseph Westrupp.

Title: Blue Bottle. The overall appearance reminded me of these little beached jellyfish we’d encounter on beach holidays throughout childhood. They’re called blue bottles, or, as of my Wikipedia perusal a minute ago, Indo-Pacific Portuguese man-of-war. (I also just gleaned they’re not true jellyfish at all, but a collection of tiny organisms making a whole. Bizarre.)

The base skull photograph was taken in the Paris Catacombs. Part of the remains of more than 6,000,000 people there.

This skull ended up reminiscent of the Punisher logo, which was neither the inspiration, nor intended. Not that it matters, just feels salient and worth mentioning.
