The title of this picture is Rosa.
The base photograph is from the same shoot as that of the Antelucan series. Though that phrasing sounds way more highfalutin than merited. In reality I noticed an old jar of beach miscellanea my girlfriend collected in New Zealand—shells, pebbles, and such. I tipped it out, and was taken with the forms.
I like the idea of using low-res, technically imperfect photographs, so instead of getting my DSLR I decided to see what I could do with my iPhone.
Lack of aperture control made it a bit tricky, especially close up, but I got some usable images. Really, there’s not a huge amount of detail in your average shell, and the beauty lies in the general shape.
There’s also a black and white version of this picture named Rosa Black.
